The Klymit Inertia X Wave: Comfortable Sleeping Pad that Packs Down Small
By Woods Monkey Staff
I like to sleep in a hammock when I camp. Finding the most comfortable set-up adds to the fun of camping and trying out new gear. Recently, I had an opportunity to use the Inertia X Wave pad on a camping trip when I would be sleeping in my hammock.
From Klymit:
At 10.5 oz, this is one of the lightest pads available anywhere, but with the X Wave’s built-in pillow, side rails, and body supporting design there is nothing more comfortable for the weight. Carefully thought out wave sections allow a soft knee cushion for side sleepers, and a tapered lower edge allows legs to lie neutrally. With the warmth of Loft Pockets and the support of custom pressurization, your super ultra light pursuits just got a whole lot more comfy.
It was a very light pad and rolled up quite small. It is a ¾ pad. If you are used to full length it will take some getting used to. It stopped on me about where my legs started; I’m over 6 feet tall.
After inflating it and installing it in my hammock I found that it was quite comfortable. I really liked the small air pump ball that was provided. It made slight adjustments very easy. The pad was quite easy to use and packed very small. I found it to be comfortable in my hammock.
The only down side to me was that I am not a fan of the open spaces. This trip was a bit cold and I found the slots to be a chilly spot. This is something that I could address with an under quilt on the hammock, another piece of gear to test! All in all, the small light weight size is a real plus when space is limited. It is worth looking into.
